Colleen Mathis

Colleen Mathis - Chair - Independent of Pima County

As a registered Independent from Pima County, Colleen Coyle Mathis was unanimously chosen as Chair of the Independent Redistricting Commission by the four appointed Commissioners.

Colleen earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from Yale University and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Illinois.  She works in the practice plan division at University of Arizona Health Network.

Among other community activities, Colleen currently serves on both the State and Southern Chapter Boards of the Arizona Historical Society and is Director of the Alumni Schools Committee for the Tucson region for Yale University. 

Colleen is married to Chris, an estate planning and elder law attorney in Tucson.

   
Linda McNulty

Linda McNulty - Democrat of Pima County

Linda C. McNulty was appointed to the Commission by Senator David Schapira, Minority Leader of the Arizona Senate.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona, where she graduated Summa cum Laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

A partner at the law firm of Lewis and Roca, LLP, Linda is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Finance practice group. Her law practice is focused primarily on commercial real estate, business and natural resources law.

In addition to serving on the Commission, Linda is the President-Elect of the Tucson chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). She serves on the boards of directors of the Pima County Sports and Tourism Authority and the Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest. She recently served for several years on the board of directors of the Wilderness Land Trust.

Linda lives with her husband Michael in Tucson, where they raised their daughter, Clare.

   
Jose Herrera

Jose Herrera - Democrat of Maricopa County

José M. Herrera was appointed to the Commission by Rep. Chad Campbell, Minority Leader of the Arizona House of Representatives.

As an Arizona native from San Luis, José received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Arizona University. José is currently the senior manager of member services for the Arizona Society of CPAs, a membership organization serving and protecting the needs of more than 6,000 CPAs and business professionals.

Among other community activities, José served two three-year terms as a board member of the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners and the Northern Arizona University Alumni Association. José currently volunteers for his son’s baseball team, the Whitesox.

José and his wife of more than 17 years, Dena, a math instructor at Rio Salado Community College, live in the Arcadia area in Phoenix and are raising two children, Caél and Sofia.

   
Scott Freeman

Scott Freeman - Republican of Maricopa County

Scott Day Freeman was appointed to the Commission by Kirk Adams, Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives.

An Arizona native, Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona where he was elected to membership in the Tau Beta Pi national engineering honorary. Scott earned his Juris Doctor from Arizona State University where he was a legal writing instructor, the Executive Managing Editor of the Arizona State Law Journal, and an editor of Jurimetrics Journal.

As a Director at the law firm of Fennemore Craig, P.C., Scott's legal practice focuses on commercial litigation and products liability defense. He is a member of his firm's Business and Personal Injury Tort Group. Professionally, Scott serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel and is a contributing editor of the Tort Law Desk Reference and the e-Common Defense newsletter. Scott is a Federalist Society member, having been an officer of the Las Vegas chapter.

Before his appointment, Scott served for several years on the Board of Directors of Rosie's House -- A Music Academy for Children and was Chairman of the organization's summer fundraiser. He is also a former Chancellor of the Barry M. Goldwater chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Scott and his wife Laura, also a lawyer, live in Phoenix and are raising three young children.
